Board of Directors
Wayne Hubert
Executive Director and Chairman
Mr. Hubert is a mining executive with over 30 years’ experience working in the America’s resources sector. From 2006 until 2010 he was the Chief Executive Officer of ASX-listed Andean Resources Limited and led the team that increased Andean’s value from $70 million to $3.5 billion in four years. Andean was developing a world-class silver and gold mine in Argentina with a resource of over 5 million ounces of gold when it was acquired by Goldcorp Inc. of Canada. Mr. Hubert holds a degree in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration and has held executive roles for Meridian Gold with experience in operations, finance and Investor Relations. In addition to his role at Austral Gold, Mr. Hubert is currently a Director of InZinc Mining Limited (TSX-V: IZN). Mr. Huber was appointed in October 2011 and re-elected by shareholders on 16 December 2014.
Eduardo Elsztain
Non-Executive Director and Vice-Chairman
Mr. Elsztain studied Economic Sciences at University of Buenos Aires (Universidad de Buenos Aires) and has been engaged in the real estate business for more than twenty years. Mr. Elsztain is chairman of the Board of Directors of IRSA (NYSE: IRS, BASE: IRSA); Cresud (NASDAQ: CRESY, BASE: CRES); BrasilAgro (NYSE: LND, BVMF: AGRO3); Banco Hipotecario (BASE: BHIP), IDB Development (TASE: DISI), among other companies. At the same time, Mr. Elsztain is a member of the World Economic Forum, the Council of the Americas, the Group of 50 and Argentina’s Business Association (AEA). Mr. Elsztain is president of Fundación IRSA, which promotes education among children and young people, including Puerta 18 Program, which provides free computing and technology education for young people from low-income backgrounds in order to develop their scientific, artistic and professional talents. Mr. Elztain was appointed as Director in June 2007, re-elected by shareholders in November 2015 and appointed as Chairman in June 2011.
Stabro Kasaneva
Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Kasaneva is a Senior Geologist with a degree from the Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile and has over 30 years of experience in production geology, exploration and management of precious metal mining operations. Since Mr. Kasaneva joined Austral Gold in 2009, he has been instrumental in transforming the Company by consolidating the operation of Guanaco Mine in Chile, restarting operations at the Casposo Mine in Argentina as well as identifying a number of opportunities that represent the growth projection of Austral Gold. Throughout his career as a geologist, he worked on exploration and production gaining vast experience in grade control, QA/QC, modeling and geological resources estimation. Mr. Kasaneva led Business Development Departments for several years evaluating a number of mining business opportunities in South America, Central America and North America. He has held the roles of General Manager of Mining Operations, Vice-President of Operations and COO. He was appointed in October 2009 as Director and re-elected by shareholders in November 2015.
Saul Zang
Non-Executive Director
Mr. Zang obtained a law degree from Universidad de Buenos Aires. He is a founding member of the law firm Zang, Bergel & Viñes. Mr. Zang is an adviser and Member of the Board of Directors of the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange and provides legal advice to national and international companies. Mr. Zang currently holds Vice-Chairmanships on the Boards of IRSA (NYSE: IRS, BASE: IRSA), IRSA Propiedades Comerciales (NASDAQ: IRCP, BASE: IRCP), Cresud (NASDAQ: CRESY, BASE: CRES) and holds Directorships with Banco Hipotecario (BASE: BHIP); BrasilAgro (NYSE: LND, BVMF:AGRO3); IDB Development among others. Mr. Zang was appointed in June 2007, re-elected by shareholders in December 2014.
Pablo Vergara del Carril
Non-Executive Director and member of the Audit and Risk Committee
Mr. Vergara del Carril is a lawyer and professor for Postgraduate studies in Capital Markets, Corporate Law and Business Law at the Catholic University of Argentina. Mr. Vergara del Carril is a Director of Banco Hipotecario SA. (BASE: BHIP); Nuevas Fronteras (owner of the Intercontinental Hotel in Buenos Aires); Alto Palermo (Nasdaq / BASE) and Emprendimiento Recoleta SA. He is also a Director of Guanaco Mining Company SPA and Guanaco Capital Holding Corp. Mr. Vergara del Carril was appointed in May 2006, re-elected by shareholders in November 2016.
Robert Trzebski
Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee
Dr. Trzebski holds a degree in Geology, PhD in Geophysics, Masters in Project Management and has over 20 years of professional experience in mineral exploration, project management and mining services. He is currently Chief Operating Officer of Austmine Ltd. Dr. Trzebski is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Mr. Trebzki was appointed on 10 April 2007 and re-elected by shareholders in November 2016.
Ben Jarvis
Non-Executive Director and member of the Audit and Risk Committee
Mr. Jarvis is the Managing Director of Six Degrees Investor Relations, an Australian advisory firm that provides investor relations services to a broad range of companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Mr. Jarvis was educated at the University of Adelaide where he majored in Politics. Appointed 2 June 2011, re-elected by shareholders 16 December 2014.
